NYC Recap // 25th Birthday

This post is almost 4 months late, but better late than never right? We took so many photos and I never got around to posting them on here and I didn’t want to flood my Instagram feed with them .-.

We went back to NY to celebrate our birthday again this year, with our friends Chris & Ebony this time, and this is just a montage of pictures of everything we got up to. (or everything we got on camera)

Our first stop was the Dream Machine because it’s one of those places you always see on Instagram and was made for Instagram. I forget how many rooms were in here, but every room was a photo opp and who doesn’t love that?! I’m sad I only had this one outfit for the whole experience, but you literally only get maybe 10-15 mins in each room and then go on to the next one. And as you can tell, nothing was going to fit in that little backpack of mines T_T

And at this very moment, I was over my hair being down (given the fact I washed it the day we left just so it could last the entire trip) and had to put it up because the heat was getting to me and it wasn’t any better in the subway. Plus we were running around all day, and lost may I add, so I knew it wasn’t going to last long. Stay hydrated kids.

We didn’t make any real plans for this trip, which is probably where we went wrong, but more of just a list of things we wanted to do while we were there. We missed a few tourist-y places last time, but the subway wasn’t any easier this time around. I think because I’m so use to just hopping in my car and going right then and there, I don’t know how to do anything else lol I’m spoiled with my car, I know. T_T

When it came to Saturday, I think we were all just drained from traveling and exploring the city in the same day that we ended up waking up later than expected. The plan was to attend a day party hosted by everydayppl and by the time we all got ready and made it out the door, we had to head straight there. And that’s where we spent most of our day until it got dark and ya girl was BEAT by the end of it.

This day in particular was the following day and I remember rain being in the forecast (hence why I didn’t do my makeup or get dressed-dressed) because I knew the weather wasn’t going to be on my side. It was raining on and off, but just so happened to stop raining for some so we could go out and explore for a little bit.

Me and Nelle ended up going to Hillsong’s 10 or 11 o’clock service while Chris and Ebony slept in and then they met up with some friends later in the day. We tried numerous times meeting up with them, but it just wasn’t working out lol we took naps after church and every time we asked “Where y’all at?” it was literally an hour away or they would be finished/gone by the time we got there. So we ended up just regrouping later that night back at the hotel and they bought wine, so all was good in the world 😉

I also had byChloe for the first time because, again, it’s one of those places that you always see on Instagram and everybody makes it look so.good. Now I’m not one to eat vegan anything, but it’s actually not that bad and I would definitely recommend the mac and cheese!

I can’t remember this exact area, but I want to say it was Greenwich……? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I can honestly say this is one of my favorite areas. Every street is a photo opp and as you can tell, we just found an empty alley way to take these 🙂 we’ve still never been to DUMBO, but I hear that’s also a really nice area.

What’s better than being 24? ……..

Nelle and I were trying to figure out what we could do on our actual birthday and she came across this boat tour called Bateaux New York. You can choose between brunch (buffet style), lunch or dinner and you basically enjoy your meal and get to see the city from an ocean view. We chose to have lunch and it lasts for about two hours with three courses: an appetizer, an entree, and dessert. And since we mentioned it was going to be our birthday when we booked the reservations, they surprised us with a window table (which is more expensive) and a slice of cheesecake!

Now if you get sick easily, this may not be the best option for you because I started to get a little light headed after having one drink and the entree. But you do have the option to get up and walk outside to snap a few pictures and also check out the view! We had passed the Statue of Liberty (which we never saw before) so that’s one to check off my NY bucket list. Plus, I feel like it’s worth the money and less crowded then actually going to Lady Liberty herself.

And since this was our last full day in New York, we decided to do a few more tourist-y sites before we left. After the boat tour was over, we visited the High Line and walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. I knew that if  we didn’t go early in the morning, it was going to be TONS of people there and I wasn’t going to be able to get the shot I wanted. Instagram obsessed problems. But lets be real…..I was not about to wake up hella early, get ready, and make the commute to these places so I just dealt with the people D;

Hope you guys enjoyed this random set of photos! We had such a good time and I know I’ll always come back. But I do always tell myself that I could live here because I enjoy the fast pace of the city and when it comes to fashion, New York is always the first place that comes to mind. Especially me loving everything street style, and just fashion in general, I would enjoy every second of this city and be inspired everyday. But who knows, I may end there in the future if the moment presents itself.

I also attempted to vlog the trip as well and I have to say, I did way better than I expected. It’s still probably not a ton of footage, or as long as I hoped it would be, but vlogging in public is hard when you’re an introvert like me. So I give myself a pat on the back for everything I did catch on camera and I LOVE every bit of it so definitely check it out! I worked suuuuper hard on it because I wanted it to be p e r f e c t and it took me about a week and a half to finish .-.
